BUZZ QUESTION:
Why is Developmental Psych Important?
Child Developmental Psychology is the study of the systematic changes that occur from prenatal development to young adulthood. Child development is a way that we can better understand ourselves and those around us by discovering how early experiences impact an individual throughout his or her life. For the purposes of this webpage, we will begin to explore five facets of development: prenatal, physical, cognitive, language and psycho-social. For the purpose of the website these areas will be separated but it is important to understand that the areas do not work independently of one another but rather interact and affect each other. For instance, a child's physical growth and development may affect their social interactions with peers. This resource will include many videos and Power Points that will allow a strong grasp of the many concepts involved in developmental psychology, because seeing the theories and ideas in action is an effective way to fully understand the concept.

Why it matters |
How it is StudiedPsychology, like all other types of science, is studied through designing and carrying out an experiment. To create an experiment, a hypothesis has to be developed. After the hypothesis is developed, the experimentation can begin. The most effective mode of completing an experiment is simple random sampling participants. After the experiment is conducted, a conclusion is drawn as to whether or not the hypothesis was correct.
